Enjoy the pristine waters of Nungwi beach

Nungwi is an amazing destination in Zanzibar. This is a place where you can chill out and enjoy yourself. It is one of the best beaches in Zanzibar.

The beach is small but a very beautiful one. The area is without a coral reef and you can swim at the tides. Thebest part is you can walk out of your resort and get onto the sea.

The Beach

The beach is small but has lots of activities to offer. Snorkeling and scuba diving are some of the popular ones. Nearby to the beach there is also a turtle sanctuary where injured turtles and other marine creatures are kept and taken care of. Once, the turtles are healed they are released into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Nungwi is also known to be the “dhow building capital of Zanzibar”. It is a wonderful place to see the “traditional craftsmen at work on their boats and watch the dhow fleets heading out for fishing during mid afternoon”. To get to the place, you just need to arrange for an inexpensive shuttle from Stone Town or you can drive in a hired car or a motorbike”.

Once you are there, you can look our for some beach cottages in the area. You should try out the “traditional African style with makuti thatched roofs”.
